Head with broken edges. For chisels with bevelled head.
The blow of a steel chisel is more direct than that of an iron chisel. The steel hammer is very suitable for rough work with high material removal, e.g. with forged pitchers and point chisels. A steel hammer is also a good impact tool for carbide chisels, e.g. for working on granite.
The force of the blow is transferred very directly and powerfully to the stone with a hammer, an iron or steel hammer. This is why milling cutters are particularly suitable for working with crystalline stone, such as marble, or stone with a strong bond, such as harder limestone.
Match the weight of the milling cutter to your chisel - the following information can serve as a rough guide:
Chisel diameter: | Weight of the chisel: |
8 mm - 10 mm | up to 500 g |
10 mm - 12 mm | up to 600 g |
12 mm - 14 mm | up to 750 g |
14 mm - 16 mm | up to 900 g |
