Annette Booss has been offering her stone sculpting courses for many years in a studio and gallery building in Heiligenberg that is specially equipped for the needs of stone sculptors. From one-day taster courses to "try it out" to courses lasting several days, machine courses and week-long courses "at the source" in Carrara, there is sure to be a suitable course for anyone interested. For experienced sculptors, in addition to the ongoing morning and evening courses, there are also covered hire areas with a crane, compressor and power connection. The offer is rounded off with a gallery, which can also be rented by interested artists.

Annette Booss has a wide range of sculpting experience in clay, wood, plaster and bronze as a work teacher and sculptor. Since her study visit to Carrara (1989), stone has been her favourite material. She has been based in the Lake Constance region since 1990, where she initially worked as an art therapist, but now works in her own studio on stone. She also organises exhibitions and sells her own work. Her main theme here is the dissolution of the heaviness of the stone through the form; mostly in free forms, but also repeatedly with the themes: People, figures and heads.

The aim of the course leader is to introduce the participants to artistic and sculptural creation, to create a dialogue between the stone and the creator, i.e. for people to experience the process of peeling away layer after layer of stone (using the Greek method, i.e. chisel at right angles to the stone). This means that people learn to see what is "inside" the stone as a form and how it can combine with the sculptor's sense of form and will to create; to allow the "crystallised light" of the marble to emerge, as Michelangelo said.

The course participants have a wide range of materials at their disposal: Marble from Carrara, Ticino, Brazil, Portugal and Tyrol, as well as red travertine limestone, Portuguese limestone, Irish limestone, blue and white alabaster, various sandstones and serpentine.

Whichever course you choose, your personal experience of working with the hard material of stone will be an unforgettable one. In a pleasant atmosphere, you will learn how to use a wide variety of tools for working stone and surfaces on the way to creating your own individual sculpture.

Annette Booss finds working with people just as important as her own artistic work: "Stone has become the appropriate material for me - to set mental and spiritual transformation processes in motion: Patience, perseverance and rhythm, as well as a loving approach to oneself and the material, lead to unexpected experiences."
