MORE INFO
Liquid coloured clay, ready to use. Firing range 900° - 1100° C. Matt.
BOTZ engobes have an earthy matt appearance after firing if they are not glazed. An even stronger colour intensity is achieved if the fired engobe surface is thinly overglazed with BOTZ Liquid Glaze Transparent super smooth 9106 and fired again (single firing also possible) - the sample tile shown here gives an impression: The left half was left earthy matt after firing, the right half was glazed with 9106 and fired again.
All engobes can be mixed with each other to create your own colour tones.
APPLICATION:
Apply BOTZ Engobe with a brush or paint horn 2 - 3 times to the leather-hard to dry, unfired clay or to the biscuit.
To produce an inexpensive coloured glaze with a silky glossy surface and fine dots, BOTZ Engobe can be mixed with BOTZ 9450 (30 % engobe, 70 % glaze). Apply 3 x.
BOTZ Engobes are also suitable for marbling and feathering techniques. For this, the engobes are thinned slightly and used on watered, leather-hard or bush-hammered clay. BOTZ engobes are also ideal for sgraffito.
BOTZ engobes can also be used as casting clay for small objects. The objects are fired at 1050° C. Sintered, they are frost-resistant.
The properties, appearance and application methods of the glazes and engobes mentioned here are without guarantee. Please be sure to observe the special manufacturer's instructions on the packaging! We generally recommend carrying out test firings. This is the best way to see how the respective glazes come out on the clay you are using, with your application method and in your kiln.
