Ready-to-use liquid glaze. Firing range 1020° - 1060° C. Glossy, semi-transparent. Suitable for raku. Tends to crackle.

BOTZ Liquid Glaze Oriental Blue is a glaze in glossy, strong, semi-transparent turquoise, which becomes a greenish turquoise at a higher firing temperature of 1100° C. The turquoise appears on light-coloured clay. The turquoise looks particularly bright on light-coloured clay and on porcelain clay. On coloured clay, the glaze becomes darker, also depending on the number of layers of glaze applied. The firing range of the liquid glaze is 1020° - 1060° C. However, the glaze can also be fired up to 1100° C. The oriental blue glaze forms cracks, the craquelé can be coloured with ink.

APPLICATION:

Stir the glaze vigorously before application. Apply the first layer of glaze with a brush to the grease and dust-free body. Allow to dry, then apply the second layer of glaze. Once dry, apply a third layer of glaze if necessary. Allow the last layer of glaze to dry thoroughly before firing. The dried glaze is firm to the touch so that the glazed ceramic can be handled and placed in the kiln without any problems. The ideal firing temperature is 1050° C with a holding time of 10 - 20 minutes.

The glaze is ready to use. If the glaze has become too solid, add a little water and stir in vigorously.

The BOTZ liquid glazes have different consistencies. They can be mixed and combined with each other.

All BOTZ liquid glazes are ready to use and easy to handle for beginners and advanced users alike. BOTZ products do not require labelling, i.e. they do not contain lead or hazardous substances that require labelling. Unlike powder pigments, the liquid glazes do not create dust.

The properties, appearance and application methods of the glazes mentioned here are without guarantee. Please be sure to observe the special manufacturer's instructions on the packaging! We always recommend carrying out test firings. This is the best way to see how the respective glazes come out on the clay you are using, with your application method and in your kiln.
