PROCESSING
Caliza can be worked very well with all types of forged steel chisels, with claw chisels, flat chisels or lettering chisels as well as with point chisels for shaping and for larger material removal. Rasps and files can also be used for processing. The hardness of the stone can vary slightly depending on the piece. With its fine-grained structure, it can be moulded down to the last detail. The visible fossil inclusions are not noticeable during processing. Caliza can be finely sanded and polished.
Sculptures made of Caliza can be placed outdoors, but the polish will dull over time as Caliza, like all limestone, is not acid-resistant.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Caliza is quarried near Cabra in the Spanish province of Cordoba in southern Andalusia.
Stone is a natural product. We endeavour to reproduce the appearance of our sculpture stones as accurately as possible in the images so that the character of the stone can be recognised. Ultimately, each stone is a unique piece and the appearance may differ accordingly from the illustration.
Our bildhau stones are natural stones in individual shapes & sizes, the dimensions & weights of which we cannot specify exactly in advance. You can choose your stone from different weight categories, in which the maximum price for a stone of the respective category is indicated. The stone delivered will be individually weighed and charged at the price per kilo stated here. The invoiced price will be lower than the maximum price for the respective category.
It is important to us that you receive exactly the material you need for your project. If you are looking for a stone with more specific dimensions (e.g. elongated, approx. 30 cm), please let us know at the end of the order process in the message field. We will endeavour to find the most suitable stone for you. On request, we will send you a photo in advance for inspection. We charge a service fee of 9.50 euros for this service, which will be shown on the invoice.
Larger stones and sawn sizes are usually also available for many types of stone. Please contact us by e-mail or telephone for a binding quote.
