MORE INFO
Ceramic-based casting slip with phosphate content. High moulding accuracy. Hardens very well within 30 minutes. Well suited for the production of delicate models, reliefs, small figures and technical moulded parts.
The casting compound absorbs two thirds of the moisture it contains during the rapid hardening process. The remaining water evaporates within 48 hours. Mechanical design work should therefore be carried out on the objects immediately after hardening (i.e. from about 30 minutes after casting), as the surface is then softer for approx. 60 - 90 minutes before it hardens completely. During this time, work such as engraving, milling, scraping, filing, drilling, sawing and sanding can be carried out very well. The surface of the moulded parts can then be treated with all conventional paints, varnishes, glazes and patinas.
Artelin is classified by ARTIDEE as toxicologically and physiologically harmless and is therefore described by the manufacturer as an "environmentally friendly" relief casting compound. Under adult supervision, it can therefore also be used by children without any problems.
APPLICATION:
Mix 3 parts Artelin and 1 part water well.
Determining the material requirements:
To calculate how much Artelin relief casting slip you need to completely fill your mould, first measure out the contents of your mould by emptying it. This is how it works: Fill the mould with water, then pour the filled water into an empty measuring cup. Read the water level from the scale on your measuring cup. This gives you the filling volume of your mould in millilitres.
Multiply the number of millilitres by a factor of 1.4. The result is the amount in grams that you need of Artelin casting slip to completely fill your mould. For example, if your mould has a volume of 1,000 ml, you will need 1,400 g of Artelin relief casting slip. As you always mix 3 parts Artelin powder with 1 part water, you therefore need 1,050 g Artelin powder and 350 g (= ml) water to obtain 1,400 g Artelin relief casting slip and completely fill your mould (i.e. 1,400 : 4 = 350; 3 x 350 = 1,050 (Artelin powder), 1 x 350 = 350 (water)).
