Transfer or duplicate an object or model into another material by moulding and casting: Using plaster or stone casting, castings are worked out in a silicone mould.
In art, moulding and casting offers the possibility of transferring an object or model into another material, of duplicating it.
This workshop offers the opportunity to get to know the entire process from the model to mould making with one and two-part moulds to single or multiple casting with different materials. The techniques of full casting and swivelling (hollow casting) can be tried out. A negative mould is created with the help of silicone and plaster. The mould is then cast. The choice of casting material alone offers many design possibilities. In this workshop you can choose between plaster and stone casting.
Those who enjoy and are interested in modelling will get their money's worth just as much as those who are enthusiastic about techniques and materials: at the beginning is the creative process of creating a model from clay, which is then moulded and cast in the subsequent steps. One to three days of the workshop can be used for this. If you don't want to start with modelling, but want to get straight into the casting process, you can bring along a (clay) model, an object, a sculpture or, for example, a found object to work with.
The workshop is also very suitable as preparation for the bronze casting workshop!
The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to try something new and discover themselves, as well as experienced sculptors who are looking for an inspiring setting and want to deepen their skills and knowledge.
We start daily at 9.30 am. Coffee is available from 9am for a relaxed arrival. At 1 pm we have lunch together. The lunch break until 2.30 pm can be used for independent work or other activities. The daily workshop time ends at 5 pm.
On the last day, we conclude the week with a small exhibition of our sculptures. At 12.30 pm we start the tour with a small lunch buffet, during which we look at and discuss the works together. Friends and family members are welcome to view the works and celebrate the end of the week with us. The workshop ends around 2 pm.
The participation fee includes lunch and drinks. We calculate with 10 Euro per person and day, i.e. for a 6-day workshop it is 60 Euro.
The vegetarian lunch together contributes to the rich and inspiring atmosphere of our workshops. You can let us know in advance if you have any food intolerances. We will endeavour to take these into account.
The price includes the use of all tools provided. Material costs are charged according to consumption and are around €70. You are welcome to bring your own materials and tools. Woodworking tools require a high degree of sharpness, so having your own tools is a great advantage when working with wood.
Students, pupils and trainees receive a 30% discount on the course fee (limited number of places, please specify in the message field when booking).
