9 - 11 October 2026
with Dana van Rijssen.
We dedicate ourselves to the study and design of the human head: proportion, structure, expression.
We see a person, the first thing we look at is their head, their face. Expression, emotion, character, facial expressions, interest, attraction. Caution - with every encounter we read our counterpart. What do we observe in our own reflection?
In this workshop, we will focus on the study and design of the human head. In addition to an introduction to proportions, learning to see will also be our topic. How do the eye and hand work well together? Dana van Rijssen will teach us how to build an armature, the skeleton, how to use the simplest tools, the material clay, the design and effect of different surfaces.
At the end of the workshop we will discuss the casting technique of the lost mould in plaster. A handout will be provided on how to make your own mould after the workshop. With a cast you can easily preserve your head study.
You can approach the shape of a head from your own experience and imagination. Or would you like to work from a specific model? In this case, we will be happy to inform you in advance about the image material you need to work well.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to try something new and discover themselves, as well as experienced sculptors who are looking for an inspiring setting and want to deepen their skills and knowledge.
We start daily at 9.30 am. Coffee is available from 9am for a relaxed arrival. At 1 pm we have lunch together. The lunch break until 3 pm can be used for independent work or other activities. The daily workshop time ends at 5.30 pm.
We will conclude the last day with a small exhibition of our sculptures, to which friends and family members are very welcome. The workshop ends around 4 pm.
The participation fee includes lunch and drinks. We calculate with 10 Euro per person and day, i.e. for a 3-day workshop it is 30 Euro.
The vegetarian lunch together contributes to the rich and inspiring atmosphere of our workshops. You can let us know in advance if you have any food intolerances. We will endeavour to take these into account.
The price includes the use of all tools provided. Material costs are charged according to consumption and are around €15. You are welcome to bring your own materials and tools. Woodworking tools require a high degree of sharpness, so having your own tools is a great advantage when working with wood.
