MORE INFO
Wooden chisels in wood carving: Wooden chisels are suitable for working with all types of carving tools with a (wooden) handle.
Wooden mallets in stone carving: The strike of a wooden mallet is significantly more muted and therefore gentler than a strike with a metal striking tool. Wooden mallets are therefore very suitable for working with soft stone, e.g. alabaster or soapstone, and stone with a soft bond, e.g. sandstone or soft limestone. To ensure that the wooden mallet has a long service life, we recommend chisels with a mallet head.
The head of the mallet is turned from a single piece and is therefore very durable. The mallet is oiled and is therefore very easy to maintain compared to lacquered mallets: you can simply freshen up the surface with a little oil.
Match the weight of the striking tool to your chisel - the following information can serve as a rough guide:
Chisel diameter: | Weight of the striking tool: |
8 mm - 10 mm | up to 500 g |
10 mm - 12 mm | up to 600 g |
12 mm - 14 mm | up to 750 g |
14 mm - 16 mm | up to 900 g |
