Silicon carbide. For grinding stone. For dry sanding. 4 different grit sizes for hard-to-reach areas. Convenient sanding, especially of concave and convex shapes. Incl. FLEXIPADS hook-and-loop backing-pad Ø 50 mm with 12 mm foam layer for the angle grinder, M14 mount.
Silicon carbide abrasives have a harder, more brittle grain than aluminium oxide abrasives. This makes them very suitable for grinding softer and medium-hard to hard stone.
Our tip: Due to the small contact surface, only work with low pressure and reduce the weight of the machine for horizontal surfaces. Work at low speed to avoid increased heat development.
The set consists of a total of 50 discs with Ø 50 mm:
15 x 60 grit
15 x 120 grit
10 x 240 grit
10 x 400 grit
Hook-and-loop backing-pads with foam padding are ideal for gently sanding curved, convex and concave surfaces. The foam layer allows the sanding pad and abrasive to adapt very well to the respective shape without sanding "edges" or "steps" into the surface. This is particularly important for soft materials such as soft stone or wood. The conical shape of the foam pad provides even greater flexibility: the pad is thinner at the edge of the hook-and-loop backing-pad, so that even stronger bends are unproblematic. This also makes it possible to reach areas that are more difficult to access. The foam pads differ not only in their thickness, but also in their stability. This allows the hook-and-loop backing-pad to be optimised for the type of work.
Hook-and-loop backing-pads with a Velcro system are extremely practical, as the grinding wheels can be changed quickly and easily. At the same time, they have a very good grip. To ensure that the hook-and-loop backing-pad retains its adhesive force for as long as possible, it is important to pay attention to both the speed of the machine and the pressure exerted on the machine when sanding. If the speed is too high and the pressure too great, high temperatures can occur, causing the plastic loops of the hook and loop disc to burn, especially at the edge. As a result, the hook-and-loop sanding discs have less and less grip on the hook-and-loop backing-pad. Depending on the type of stone, excessively high temperatures can also cause grinding damage to the stone or, in the case of woodworking, to the wood.
