MORE INFO
Due to its very fine and even structure, Statuario Venato is ideal for sculpting, as the name of the stone itself indicates. Even the smallest details can be worked out precisely and perfectly, making filigree work possible. The light refraction of the crystals sometimes makes the material appear almost soft and flowing.

PROCESSING
Statuario Venato can be worked very well by hand using forged steel chisels (point chisels, claw chisels, flat chisels, etc.) with hammerhead in combination with an iron scraper. Softer marble can also be worked with forged steel rasps, harder marble with carbide rasps and diamond files. Marble can also be polished by hand to a high lustre. In Italian sculpture workshops, marble is mainly worked with pneumatic tools, which can be used to shape it very precisely. Polishing can also be done by machine.
Sculptures made from Statuario Venato are particularly suitable for indoor installation. For outdoor installation, the stone must be treated with an appropriate impregnation. Polishing with oxalic acid also makes Statuario Venato more resistant to environmental influences.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Statuario Venato is a white marble with grey veining. It has a very uniform, fine crystalline structure with an average grain size of the individual calcite minerals of a constant approx. 0.5 mm. Marble is a metamorphic rock that is around 140 million years old. The grey veining is fine-grained graphite in linear concentration, which was formed over millions of years by metamorphosis from organic inclusions.
Statuario Venato is mined underground today. Due to its special properties, the stone is not only valued and sought after in sculpture, but also in the construction industry, particularly for interior design. Due to extraction on an industrial scale over the last 50 years or so, Statuario Venato has now become a scarce resource.
Stone is a natural product. We endeavour to reproduce the appearance of our sculptural stones as accurately as possible in the illustrations so that the character of the stone can be recognised. Ultimately, each stone is unique and the appearance may differ from the illustration.
