Package with the basic tools for modelling a head and a book with lots of practical tips.
When modelling portraits with clay, it is exciting to get to know and explore the proportions of the face and head. Whether it's a portrait of a real person, a memory image or a fantasy head: with a close look, confidence in your own hands and a little practice, you can achieve great results!
In addition to tools and an instruction book, the package contains a 10 kg jar of light G & S practice clay, which is great for trying out portrait modelling. The practice clay is a mass that always varies slightly in colour and fireclay. The clay can be fired. If the clay head has a solid structure, it must be hollowed out beforehand. Please note: The firing colour of our practice clay is always a bit of a surprise!
If you don't have access to a kiln, you can also simply leave a clay portrait to dry slowly in the air. The object should then be handled with a little more care when setting it up and transporting it. A modelled head made of unfired clay can also be moulded very well with silicone or alginate. A silicone mould can be filled with different materials to create a whole series.
The modelling stand has an inclined rod: this makes it particularly suitable as a support and reinforcement for modelling heads, as it follows the shape of the neck.
The amount of clay required for modelling a head depends on many factors: the size of the head, whether it is to be a bust with a shaping base or just the head, whether you are working with a paper core or solid. For modelling a life-size head in solid construction, we recommend ordering an additional Hubel clay.
The set includes:
1 free Hubel practice clay 10 kg from G & S
1 modelling stand as a support & reinforcement, especially for heads & portraits. portraits
1 steel wire clay cutter
15 differently shaped modelling sticks
1 forged sculpting spatula 24 cm round on both ends
3 loop sculpting spatulas both ends round with wooden handle, 18 cm long, for removing clay and hollowing out the head shape
1 book "Kopf und Gesicht. Modelling with clay"
