Versatile basic carving tool set, ideal for getting started in wood sculpting .
Recommended by sculptor Dana van Rijssen from our video tutorials "Introduction to woodcarving".
The set with roll-up pouch also includes the one-piece KAPRA hornbeam club for free.
Dana's recommendation: "In this set, I have put together the most important tools you need to get started. You can use the handy blade in a variety of ways and the robust suede roll-up pouch allows you to transport the carving tools safely. My focus is mainly on wider irons, which I can use in a variety of ways and from both sides. The one-piece turned blade is beautifully shaped, light and easy to handle. The long handle enables different handling options: It is kept short for detailed work. For powerful blows, the best place to grip it is at the rear end, where the ball is moulded."
The KAPRA leather roll-up pouch is the perfect place to store the carving tools: The valuable cutting edges are protected from damage and stay in perfect shape. At the same time, there is no risk of cutting yourself during transport.
The set consists of:
ARROW flat edge 1e/12, gouge 1, 12 mm wide
ARROW gouge edge 2/20 gouge 2, 20 mm wide
ARROW gouge edge 3/25, gouge 3, 25 mm wide
ARROW gouge edge 5/12, gouge 5, 12 mm wide
ARROW gouge edge 7/18, gouge 7, 18 mm wide
ARROW gouge edge 3/40, gouge 3, 40 mm wide
Optional:
KAPRA beechwood club one-piece 450 g
KAPRA leather roll-up pouch 6 + 4 compartments
Gouges are versatile carving tools: they are used for carving wood, from the heavy removal of material for the first rough shape to the fine finishing of details. You can use gouges to shape wood in a free form, carve out convexes and concaves and shape surfaces.
Gouges are available in straight, curved, curved and reverse curved shapes. PFEIL gouges are available in many cutting edge widths and with different stitches. The stitch indicates the depth of the curvature of the gouge and is labelled with numbers - from 2, very flat irons, to 11, strongly curved irons.
Occasionally, the manufacturer may experience delivery bottlenecks for the dimensions of individual bars. In such cases, we reserve the right to supply a neighbouring size. If this does not meet your expectations, you can of course exchange it.
