Due to supply bottlenecks at the manufacturer, we may replace individual carving irons with similar sizes.
This selection offers basic equipment for carving medium-sized sculptures (approx. 30 - 80 cm). When creating the rough shape, the wood is removed across the grain with a large gouge. Large flat irons are used to create the surfaces. The gouge is used to work out the details. We recommend a 550 g or 700 g iron mallet for the larger irons.
As an extended set, we recommend the 10-piece set (art. 162090010 or art. 162090011).
Gouges are versatile carving tools: When carving wood, they are used for everything from removing a lot of material for the first rough shape to the fine finishing of details. You can use gouges to shape wood freely, carve out convexes and concaves and shape surfaces.gouges are available in straight, curved, offset and reverse offset shapes. PFEIL gouges are available in many cutting edge widths and with different stitches. The gouge edge 11 indicates the depth of the curvature of the gouge and is labelled with numbers - from 2, very flat irons, to 11, strongly curved irons.
