The heavy duty fishtail gouge is mainly used for carving out the rough shape and for carving large figures. The ergonomically shaped, sturdy handle is made of hornbeam and fitted with extra-strong steel ferrules so that the heavy duty fishtail gouge can withstand even powerful blows with the mallet.

Gouges are versatile carving tools: they are used for carving wood, from removing a lot of material for the first rough shape to the fine finishing of details. You can use gouges to shape wood freely, carve out convexes and concaves and shape surfaces.

Gouges are available in straight, curved, offset and inverted offset shapes. PFEIL gouges are available in many cutting edge widths and with different stitches.
