This selection of carving tools offers solid basic equipment for working on medium-sized sculptures (30 - 80 cm). When creating the rough shape, the wood is removed across the grain with a large gouge (e.g. gouge edge 9/25). The surfaces are created with large flat irons (e.g. stitches 3/30 and 2/20). The small gouge edges (e.g. stitches 5/8, 5/20, 7/10, 11/4, 11/10) are used to create a variety of details. The v-parting tool (stitch 12/8) and the bevelled flat iron (stitch 1s/12) are used to cut tapered edges cleanly.

Gouges are versatile carving tools: when carving wood, they are used for everything from removing a lot of material for the first rough shape to the fine finishing of details. You can use gouges to shape wood freely, carve out convexes and concaves and shape surfaces.gouges are available in straight, curved, offset and reverse offset shapes. PFEIL gouges are available in many cutting edge widths and with different stitches. The gouge edge 11 indicates the depth of the curvature of the gouge and is labelled with numbers - from 2, very flat irons, to 11, strongly curved irons.
