MORE INFO

Crystal clear two-component casting resin. Component A + polyester curing agent MEK-peroxide (component B).

Highly transparent. UV-resistant. Good pigmentability.

For the production of transparent bodies and for moulding objects. Unsaturated polyester resin (UP), thermoset. Pre-accelerated. Cures with heat development (exothermic reaction). Insoluble, infusible, not weldable. Cannot be plastically moulded again after curing. Carbonises at high temperatures. UV-resistant due to appropriate additives. Can be easily coloured with colours for synthetic resins. Mixes well with e.g. bronze and other metal powders.

APPLICATION:

Add between 0.2 % and 2.5 % (by volume) MEK-peroxide hardener (component B) to component A. The mixing ratio depends on the quantity of the preparation. Dose quantities carefully, e.g. use a pipette or disposable syringe for the hardener. Adding a larger quantity of hardener accelerates setting, but also increases the resulting reaction temperature. A higher temperature reduces the transparency of the polyester. Therefore, add less hardener for large volumes that result in a higher reaction temperature. Excessive addition of the polyester curing agent MEK-peroxide can also lead to discolouration (blue/pink/purple) of the polyester resin.

Pour larger workpieces in layers of approx. 2 cm thickness each. Allow the mass to harden. When the reaction temperature has dropped again, pour the next layer. Only cast absolutely dry objects and items, as moisture leads to the formation of streaks. Use casting moulds made of materials with a smooth, shiny surface (glass, metal, plastic). Moulds made of non-self-releasing materials must first be treated with a release agent.

TECHNICAL DATA:

Colour: light blue, transparent liquid (colourless after curing)
Pot life (at 25° C): 4.5 - 6.5 minutes
Exothermic peak: 155° - 175° C
Demoulding time:14 - 18 minutes
Shrinkage after curing: 8.1 % (with the addition of 2 % MEK-peroxide curing agent)

Storage: Store in a tightly closed original container in a cool place protected from sunlight. Can be kept for 3 to 6 months under these conditions.

The pot life can be extended by lowering the processing temperature or by adding less hardener. To be on the safe side, always carry out a test beforehand.
