21 - 24 August 2026
with Sebastian Probst.
The aim of the course is to create a life-size portrait out of clay based on a photographic model.
Every head has a very unique shape, and the position of the head on the shoulder base is also individual: we analyse the basic shapes, the silhouette, the specifics, get to know the anatomical basics and playfully learn the methods of how to give the portrait the desired expression. To accompany this, Sebastian will give short art history lectures on how different sculptors at different times have created portraits in terms of technique and design.
The portrait can be burnt after the course if desired.
As we work from a photographic template, please bring at least three photos (frontal view, profile view left, profile view right) of the head of the person to be portrayed to the course!
Max. 8 participants
The workshop is aimed at all those who want to try something new and discover themselves and also at experienced sculptors who are looking for an inspiring framework and want to deepen their skills and knowledge.
We start daily at 9.30 am. Coffee is available from 9am for a relaxed arrival. At 1 pm we have lunch together. The lunch break until 3 pm can be used for independent work or other activities. The daily workshop time ends at 5.30 pm.
On the last day, we conclude the week with a small exhibition of our sculptures. At 12:30 pm we start the tour with a small lunch buffet, during which we look at and discuss the works together. Friends and family members are welcome to view the works and celebrate the end of the week with us. The workshop ends around 2 pm.
The participation fee includes lunch and drinks. We calculate with 10 Euro per person and day, i.e. for a 3-day workshop it is 30 Euro.
The vegetarian lunch together contributes to the rich and inspiring atmosphere of our workshops. You can let us know in advance if you have any food intolerances. We will endeavour to take these into account.
The price includes the use of all tools provided. Material costs are charged according to consumption and are around € . You are welcome to bring your own materials and tools. Woodworking tools require a high degree of sharpness, so having your own tools is a great advantage when working with wood.
