Aluminium oxide with ceramic coating. For sanding wood and stone. For wet and dry sanding, approx. 98 x 69 x 26 mm.
The sanding sponges are comfortable to handle. They are coated with abrasive on four sides. The special ceramic coating of the aluminium oxide abrasive ensures greater stability and longer durability of the abrasive grain. The ceramic coating also ensures that the abrasive does not clog up with dust as quickly during dry sanding. When sanding stone, they are recommended for wet sanding and then have a longer service life.
The specified grit sizes of the sanding sponges correspond approximately to the higher grit size of sandpaper:
Grit 36 corresponds to 60
Grit 60 corresponds to 120
Grit 100 corresponds to 240
Grit 150 corresponds to 400
Grit 220 corresponds to 600
Abrasives made of aluminium oxide (corundum) are very suitable for sanding wood and soft stone (alabaster, soapstone and the soft varieties of serpentine, limestone and marble) as well as for sanding metal. This has to do with the grain type: The abrasive grain of aluminium oxide is hard and block-shaped, slightly less hard compared to silicon carbide, but tougher. Abrasives made from silicon carbide are very sharp-edged but more brittle, and the abrasive grain behaves differently when sanding. Silicon carbide is more suitable for marble, harder stone and very hard wood.
A ceramic coating ensures greater stability and a longer service life of the abrasive. A stearate coating changes the spaces between the abrasive grains and ensures that the abrasive does not clog up with abrasive dust as quickly.
