Sculpture academy at Frenswegen Monastery with sculptor couple Jutta and Jo Klose
Frenswegen Monastery in the county of Bentheim is a place of sculpture: visual artists have worked with the sandstone quarried in the county at symposia. Jutta and Jo Klose have also been using the easy-to-work sedimentary rock for many years in their large sculptures for public spaces and at summer academies. The Frenswegen Monastery Foundation would like to continue this tradition with its sculpture academy as part of the monastery summer. The event provides an introduction to working with sandstone as well as an opportunity to further develop the skills already acquired. Work will take place on the orchard meadow next to the monastery. The fireplace room of the Heuerhaus opposite will be used for coffee breaks and art theory discussions, among other things.
Participants will receive plenty of inspiration during a guided tour of the sculptures around the monastery and on an excursion to the nearby quarry.
