Silicon carbide. For grinding harder stone. Ø 115 mm. Set of 77 hook-and-loop fiber discs assorted in 11 grit sizes from 40 to 1200 grit. Incl. hook-and-loop backing-pad with 12 mm foam layer. M14 mount for angle grinders, angle polishers and polishers.
Sharp grit, only for hard types of stone, max. speed 7,500 rpm, corresponds to 45 m/s. Abrasives made of silicon carbide have a harder, more brittle grain compared to abrasives made of aluminium oxide. This makes them very suitable for grinding medium-hard to hard stone.
The fibre hook and loop abrasive disc set contains the following grits, 7 pieces each:
Grit 40
Grit 60
Grit 80
Grit 120
Grit 180
Grit 220
Grit 320
Grit 400
Grit 600
Grit 800
Grit 1200
Hook-and-loop backing-pads with foam pads are ideal for gently sanding curved, convex and concave surfaces. The foam layer allows the sanding pad and abrasive to adapt very well to the respective shape without grinding "edges" or "steps" into the surface. This is particularly important for soft materials such as soft stone or wood. The conical shape of the foam pad provides even greater flexibility: the pad is thinner at the edge of the hook-and-loop backing-pad, so that even stronger bends are unproblematic. This also makes it possible to reach areas that are more difficult to access. The foam pads differ not only in their thickness, but also in their stability. This allows the hook-and-loop backing-pad to be optimised for the type of work.
Hook-and-loop backing-pads with a Velcro system are extremely practical, as the grinding wheels can be changed quickly and easily. At the same time, they have a very good grip. To ensure that the hook-and-loop backing-pad retains its adhesive force for as long as possible, it is important to pay attention to both the speed of the machine and the pressure exerted on the machine when sanding. If the speed is too high and the pressure too great, high temperatures can occur, causing the plastic loops of the hook and loop disc to burn, especially at the edge. As a result, the hook-and-loop sanding discs have less and less grip on the hook-and-loop backing-pad. Depending on the type of stone, excessively high temperatures can also cause grinding damage to the stone or, in the case of woodworking, to the wood.
