Venting channel, sprue channel for mould making for the lost wax process in bronze/metal casting.
The venting channels with a round cross-section and solid design can be moulded very well at room temperature. The optimum processing temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. The rods are made from a special wax that is both flexible and tear-resistant. You can work the material by hand or with modelling tools. You can heat the ends to make it easier to attach the venting or sprue channels to your wax model.
The larger diameter is mainly used as a sprue.
The second illustration comes from the book Bronze Casting, a richly illustrated reference book that we recommend and that you can obtain from us.
