Drills can be perfectly sharpened with the patented TORMEK DBS-22 drill bit sharpening attachment: There are optimum point and clearance angles for every drilling operation, depending on drill size and material - with the TORMEK sharpening device, these angles can be set perfectly. Even broken drill bits can be sharpened back to the correct shape.

The device can be used to produce four-fibre drill tips, which ensure optimum drill performance. According to the manufacturer, the potential application time of a drill bit is also up to four times longer with a four-fibre tip compared to conventional twist drills.

Advantages of four-fibre ground drill bits: While the cross cutting edge is almost flat on many drill bits, it is pointed on four-fibre ground drill bits. This means that the tip cannot move and less drilling pressure is required. With a precision-ground four-fibre point, less heat is generated during drilling, which increases the service life of a drill bit. Water cooling during sharpening also prevents the formation of microcracks, which also helps to extend the service life of the drill bit.
