TORMEK SB-250 blackstone silicon grindstone

Corresponds to 220 to 1000 grit. Grindstone for very hard and high-alloy steel grades such as HSS. 250 mm x 50 mm. Silicon carbide. With adjustable sharpening properties. Suitable for TORMEK T-8, T-7 and older models with a grinding wheel of 250 mm diameter and 50 mm width.

The TORMEK Blackstone Silicon wet grinding stone was developed to shape and sharpen very hard and high-alloy steel grades such as HSS. This makes it particularly interesting for sharpening turning tools, as the stone ensures more efficient material removal from hard turning tools. It can also sharpen carbide if the tool already has the correct shape. However, the SB-250 Blackstone Silicon does not grind the coarse carbon steel any faster than the original TORMEK grinding stone.

The combination of the hardness, shape and size of the abrasive grains allows the stone to work efficiently even at the low speed of the TORMEK machines and lower grinding pressure. The higher grinding capacity of the grindstone is particularly suitable for grinding tools with large grinding surfaces and when the grinding pressure is low, e.g. for chisels for turning and machine planing knives.

The 220 grit corresponds to the grit of the original TORMEK grinding stone and can be modified with the SP-650 stone preparer so that the stone has a grinding surface corresponding to a 1000 grit. This grindstone therefore also combines various grinding properties in one stone.
