You decide whether you are looking for a hard or soft wood, for a large or small workpiece, for indoors or outdoors. Of course, the grain of the wood is also very important, as it can vary greatly.

Lime wood is particularly good for carving as it is a very soft wood. bildhau therefore offers unglued and virtually crack-free carving wood from the lime tree. Flat pieces are very nice for reliefs, the slightly thicker pieces for small wooden sculptures. Carvings made from lime wood should only be placed indoors, as the wood would weather too quickly outdoors.

Unfortunately, we cannot keep large pieces of wood in stock. However, if you are looking for wood for a large sculpture, we can give you a few tips on where you can enquire: A good place to start is, of course, any forester in your neighbourhood. In addition to the timber trade, you can also find what you are looking for at horticultural companies that carry out tree felling work, for example, and therefore often have to deal with larger pieces of wood.
