Polishing stone by hand

Marble, hard limestone and granite can be polished to a high gloss. With polishing powder and burlap cloth, a durable and high-gloss surface can be worked out relatively easily by hand. Before polishing, the stone is sanded with sandpaper to a grit size of 1200 or 2000.

For polishing with polishing powder we recommend the following procedure:

1. pour the polishing powder onto a deep plate.
2. slightly (!) moisten a burlap cloth and dab it into the polishing powder.
3. Spread the polishing powder over the stone by dabbing.
4. allow the applied polishing powder to react briefly so that the chemical can react with the stone.
5. Rub the polishing powder vigorously (!) into the stone with the burlap cloth. Squeaking noises can and should occur during this process!
6. dab the burlap cloth into the polishing powder again and again and continue rubbing.
7. finally, wash the polished stone thoroughly (!) so that the chemical cannot react further.
