Ceramic casting slip with very high moulding accuracy and extremely hard, smooth and abrasion-resistant surface after hardening.
The casting slip is very suitable for the production of sculptures, reliefs, decorative and utility objects and e.g. for casting hand and foot moulds.
The casting slip can be pigmented, e.g. with CREARTEC pigment powder. If the moulded objects are to be set up outdoors, we recommend treating the surface with a weatherproof impregnation. After priming, the fully cured objects can be designed with e.g. paints, varnishes, stains or iron primer and, for a porcelain-like effect, with transparent CREARTEC cold glaze resin.
APPLICATION:
Mix 4 parts by weight Artestone and 1 part by weight water thoroughly. Slowly pour the Artestone powder into the water while stirring constantly. Continue stirring until a creamy, lump-free mixture has formed. Leave the mixture to rest for approx. 2 minutes after stirring and allow it to pre-react so that any air that has been stirred in during mixing can escape. Then pour the casting compound into the prepared mould. During the hardening reaction, the compound heats up to approx. 30° - 50° C.
The cast object can be removed from the mould after approx. 30 minutes. The cast object remains medium-hard for about 1 to 2 hours and can still be easily worked on during this time, e.g. if small corrections are to be made, such as removing a mould edge. Complete hardening is achieved after approx. 8 hours.
Determining the material requirements:
To determine the capacity of your casting mould, fill it as follows: Fill your casting mould completely with water. Then pour the water into an empty measuring cup (in several stages for larger moulds) and read the water level from the measuring cup. This will give you the filling volume of your casting mould in millilitres.
To determine the amount of Artestone casting compound you need to completely fill your mould, multiply the number of millilitres measured by a factor of 1.5. This gives you the amount of Artestone casting compound in grams.
For example, if you want to fill a mould with a volume of 1,000 ml, you will need 1,500 g of Artestone casting compound. As the casting compound consists of 4 parts Artestone powder and 1 part water (1,500 g : 5 = 300 g), you will need 1,200 g Artestone powder (4 x 300 g) and 300 g (= ml; 1 x 300 g) water to produce the correct amount of Artestone casting compound.
