MORE INFO

Dispersion for producing a metallic surface from iron. Basis for further treatment with ARTIDEE oxidising medium to produce rust surfaces on non-metallic and metallic materials. Dispersion on an aqueous basis, solvent-free.

The ARTIDEE oxidation system can be used to give sculptures, sculptures, objects and items of all kinds and made from a wide variety of materials a new, authentic surface appearance: By applying a metal dispersion, which is then treated with an oxidizing medium, rust and verdigris surfaces can be created in a wide variety of colours.

To create rust surfaces, the objects are coated with iron primer. Iron primer adheres to almost all rough and absorbent substrates. Smooth surfaces must first be pre-treated with CREARTEC Universal Primer, e.g. objects made of plastic, glass, porcelain, metal, raw ceramics, glazed ceramics, painted surfaces, polystyrene, synthetic textiles. For objects made of plaster, concrete, cement and ceramic bodies as well as other materials with porous surfaces , pre-treatment with CREARTEC casting compound primer is recommended in order to close any pores and level out any unevenness.

As the surface becomes rough and rather uneven when iron oxidises, flat objects are particularly suitable for designing with iron primer and rust. For objects with many small details or ornaments that should remain clearly visible, the treatment may be less favourable, as the rust can visually cover up the details. In this case, a design with metal primer and a fine verdigris oxidation effect is recommended.

APPLICATION:

1. depending on the material, pre-treat the surface with universal primer or casting compound primer and allow to dry.

2. pre-prime the surface with iron primer: Apply the dispersion very thinly with a soft brush and allow to dry for a few minutes.

3 Coat the pre-primed surface with an even layer of material using a brush or, in the case of flat objects, a wooden spatula. Allow the dispersion to dry for approx. 60 - 80 minutes.

4 The surface can then be treated with an ARTIDEE oxidising medium for further design.

Iron primer is available in two different degrees of fineness, super fine and medium fine. Additional iron powder can be added to the iron primer to make the dispersion more viscous and to reinforce a rustic rust effect.

Material consumption approx. 75 - 90 g/sqm, depending on the layer thickness applied.
