more info

High-quality vegetable-based wood oil for interior wooden objects and wooden toys. For initial treatment, care & refreshing.

CREARTEC natural wood oil offers lasting protection and care: it penetrates deep into the wood, brings out the natural wood grain of most types of wood and has a water and dirt-repellent effect. The natural wood oil is suitable for wooden toys in accordance with EN 71-3.

Unlike a varnish, treatment with CREARTEC natural wood oil creates an open-pored, natural surface rather than a closed one. When applied correctly, the oil is completely absorbed into the wood and hardens as a protective film around the wood fibres inside the wood. If water remains on the oiled surface for longer, it can penetrate the wood, as it retains its natural properties and therefore also its capillary forces. Strongly coloured liquids in particular, such as red wine, should be wiped off as quickly as possible so as not to leave any permanent marks.

APPLICATION

For initial treatment, sand the wood surface to 240 grit. Remove sanding dust carefully. Apply CREARTEC natural wood oil generously with a non-hairy brush or a lint-free cloth, wetting highly absorbent areas again. The wood oil can also be massaged into the wood. After about 30 minutes, completely remove excess oil with a lint-free cloth so that no shiny spots remain. Always work in the direction of the fibres. Then leave wooden surfaces to dry for at least 12 hours. Repeat this process once or twice. A fine intermediate sanding with 320 or 400 grit can be carried out before the second application. Carefully remove any sanding dust before applying the wood oil.

For highly absorbent woods, a primer, e.g. a shellac primer, can be applied first. This significantly reduces the consumption of natural wood oil.

If the water-repellent effect of the wood oil wears off over time, the wooden surfaces can simply be re-oiled with a small amount of wood oil to freshen them up. Make sure that no excess oil remains, so that no shiny spots are created. Slight damage to oiled surfaces can be carefully sanded out and re-oiled if necessary. Any resulting differences in colour will usually even out after a few months with most types of wood.

CAUTION: The oily cloths and rags can easily catch fire, so do not leave them unattended, but dispose of them in airtight packaging!

Classification according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008: The product is not classified as hazardous according to the GHS/CLP directives and does not require labelling.
