The aluminium oxide sanding pads with ceramic coating offer a fast and clean sanding result. Even the smallest corners are easy to reach with the particularly thin sanding pads. The abrasive surface remains stable even when folded and bent several times, and the foam pad has three times the service life of sandpaper. The ceramic coating also ensures that the abrasive does not clog up with dust as quickly during dry sanding. When sanding stone, the pads are recommended for wet sanding and then have a longer service life.
The specified grits of the sanding pads correspond approximately to the higher grit of sandpaper:
Grain 60 corresponds to 120
Grain 100 corresponds to 240
Grain 150 corresponds to 400
The set of 9 sanding pads contains 3 pads of each grit.
Aluminium oxide (corundum) abrasives are very suitable for sanding wood and soft stone (alabaster, soapstone and the soft varieties of serpentine, limestone and marble) as well as for sanding metal. This has to do with the grain type: The abrasive grain of aluminium oxide is hard and blocky, slightly less hard compared to silicon carbide, but tougher. Silicon carbide abrasives are very sharp-edged, but more brittle, and the abrasive grain behaves differently during grinding. Silicon carbide is better suited to marble, harder stone and very hard wood.
