MORE INFO
Small electrically operated pneumatic hammer for artistic stone and woodworking. For use with pneumatic chisels & carving tools with a Ø 7.5 mm shaft.
We have thoroughly tested the PICCHIO and show you in the two videos how you can use it in stone and woodworking. You can find information on the difference between the Mini-PICCHIO and the PICCIO further down in the text.
The Mini-PICCHIO electric hammer from GELMA in Carrara, Italy, has the same advantages as the larger PICCHIO Woodpecker: For anyone who would like to work with a machine, but for whom working with a compressor and pneumatic hammer is out of the question (too little space, too loud, too time-consuming or too difficult to handle), a PICCHIO electric hammer is a good alternative and addition: The pendant motor is lightweight and can therefore be used flexibly and stored away again to save space. You can easily take it with you when you are working at a different location. Compared to the combination of compressor and pneumatic hammer, a PICCHIO is much quieter.
The Mini-PICCHIO works in a similar way to a pneumatic hammer, but is powered electrically with 220/230 V. The electric pneumatic hammer has a high, constant impact frequency, but the impact force can be varied: If you only press lightly with the tool, you have a very fine blow for correspondingly fine work. If you press harder on the workpiece with the tool, you get a somewhat stronger blow for coarser removal. Unlike pneumatic hammers, the PICCHIO strikes directly and not via an air cushion, and its striking motion remains very even, enabling particularly precise and fine work.
The cigar-shaped handpiece of the Mini-PICCHIO is firmly connected to the flex shank and is very handy and flexible in use - in combination with the suspended motor and the long flex shank, a workpiece can be easily processed from allsides. The Mini-PICCHIO Minipecker pressure hammer is even lighter than the PICCHIO Woodpecker pressure hammer, the flexible shaft is finer and therefore also lighter and makes working with the handpiece even more manoeuvrable.
Stone working: The Mini-PICCHIO is designed for pneumatic chisels with a shaft diameter of 7.5 mm. With its fine chisels and consistently high impact rate, the Mini-PICCHIO is particularly suitable for small and medium stonework, for fine and very fine detail work and writing in marble and other types of stone up to a Mohs hardness of around 3 to 3.5.
Woodworking: Like the large PICCHIO, the Mini-PICCHIO can also be used very well for carving wood. The pressure hammer is very suitable for carving softer types of wood in particular. The high impact frequency of the pressure hammer allows very fine, clean carving of the finest details from the wood, much finer than would be possible by hand with a carving iron and mallet. The PICCHIO is also particularly suitable for the fine carving of end grain and knots. Carving chisels can be converted for use with the Mini-PICCHIO with the help of adapters. We offer two types of adapters for this purpose: With a simple metal adapter that is firmly attached to the carving iron, any carving iron with a wooden handle can be converted for use with the PICCHIO. Instructions for converting carving tools can be found with the adapter. The PICCHIO manufacturer GELMA offers another system: It includes a cap that allows the carving iron to be used with the mallet again after conversion for the PICCHIO.
Please note: Unlike compressed air systems, no rotating tools can be operated with the Mini-PICCHIO minipecker pressure hammer.
