Electrically operated pneumatic hammer for artistic stone and woodworking. For operating pneumatic chisels & carving tools with Ø 12.5 mm & Ø 7.5 mm shafts. For tools with shank Ø 10.2 mm with optional reducing bush.

We have thoroughly tested the PICCHIO and show you in the two videos how you can use the PICCHIO electric hammer in stone and woodworking:

The PICCHIO Woodpecker pressure hammer from the Italian manufacturer GELMA offers a unique alternative or supplement to working with compressed air:

The PICCHIO is an excellent alternative for anyone who would like to do machine-assisted work but for whom working with a compressor and pneumatic hammer is out of the question (too little space, too loud, too costly or too heavy to handle): the suspended motor is lightweight and can therefore be used flexibly and put away again to save space. You can easily take it with you when you are working at a different location. Compared to the combination of compressor and pneumatic hammer, the PICCHIO is much quieter.

The PICCHIO works in a similar way to a pneumatic hammer, but is powered electrically with 220/230 V. The electric pneumatic hammer has a high, constant impact frequency, but the impact force can be varied: If you only press lightly with the tool, you have a very fine blow for correspondingly fine work. If you press hard on the workpiece with the tool, you get a powerful stroke for coarser removal. The PICCHIO thus combines two pressure hammers in one. The harder blow can be compared to the blow of a medium pneumatic hammer. The soft blow corresponds to that of a light pneumatic hammer or font hammer. Unlike a pneumatic hammer, the PICCHIO strikes directly and not via an air cushion, and its striking movement remains very even, allowing for particularly precise and fine work.

The cigar-shaped handpiece is firmly connected to the flex shank and is very handy, flexible and manoeuvrable in use - in combination with the suspended motor and the long flexible shaft, a workpiece can be easily processed from all sides.

Stone processing: All pneumatic tools with a suitable shank thickness and a maximum cutting width of 16 mm can be used with the PICCHIO pressure hammer. The pneumatic hammer has a holder for pneumatic tools with a 12.5 mm shaft as standard. The scope of delivery also includes an adapter (reducing bush) for tools with a 7.5 mm shank. A reducing bush for air tools with a 10.2 mm shank, which are very common in Germany, can also be ordered as an option.

The pneumatic hammer was originally developed in Carrara for working marble. Apart from marble, many other types of stone up to a Mohs hardness of around 3 - 3.5 can be worked very well with it.

Woodworking: The PICCHIO is very suitable for carving softer types of wood in particular. The high impact frequency of the pressure hammer allows very fine, clean details to be carved out of the wood, much finer than is possible by hand. The PICCHIO is also particularly suitable for the fine carving of end grain and knots. Carving tools can be converted for use with the PICCHIO with the aid of adapters. We offer two types of adapters for this purpose: With a simple metal adapter that is firmly attached to the carving iron, any carving iron with a wooden handle can be converted for use with the PICCHIO. Instructions for converting carving tools can be found with the adapter. Another system is offered by the PICCHIO manufacturer GELMA: It includes a cap that allows the carving iron to be used with the mallet again after conversion for the PICCHIO.

Please note: Unlike compressed air systems, rotating tools cannot be used with the PICCHIO Woodpecker pressure hammer.
