MORE INFO
This soft limestone is popular as a sculptor's stone and is also very suitable for beginners in stone sculpting. Tervoux has a very fine, dense structure and a uniform light beige colour. Due to its structure, fine details can also be worked out very well.

FURTHER INFORMATION
Like Richemont, Tervoux is a so-called oolitic sedimentary limestone. Oolites consist of so-called ooids, small egg-shaped particles (hence the name). Tervoux is a fine-grained sedimentary rock of marine origin with round, very fine grains. Ooids are small mineral bodies around which layers of lime, iron oxides, iron hydroxides and silica have accumulated in many layers, resulting in small spheres or egg-shaped formations. The ooids have cemented together with lime and clay on the seabed and formed new rock over a long period of time. Tervoux is significantly older than Richemont, it was formed around 155 million years ago in the Callovian period of the Middle Cretaceous.
Tervoux is extracted from a quarry in the municipality of Chasseneuil du Poitou in the Vienne département near Poitiers.
Stone is a natural product. We endeavour to reproduce the appearance of our sculptured stones as accurately as possible in the illustrations so that the character of the stone can be recognised. Ultimately, each stone is unique and the appearance may differ from the illustration.
